Some hearing aids let you change everyday settings directly on the device. If you prefer a routine without a smartphone app, check each step: initial setup, power, volume, listening modes and charging. A product can have physical buttons while still using an app for another function.
The useful question is: Can I complete the tasks I need without a phone? This guide explains how to check, with the Delmicure VHP-1303 as an example of on-device mode and volume controls.
Separate setup from everyday use
Before buying, look for instructions that describe what happens when the hearing aid first arrives. Confirm whether you need an account, a compatible phone or an app for any required setup. Then check how you make an ordinary adjustment later in the day.
| Task | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| First-time setup | Which steps are required before listening, and do any require a phone? |
| Power | How do you switch the hearing aid on and off? |
| Volume | Can you find and operate the control while wearing the device? |
| Listening modes | How do you change the setting, and what happens after restarting? |
| Charging | What equipment is supplied, and how do you recognize charging status? |
How VHP-1303 everyday adjustments work
The VHP-1303 has two listening modes and eight volume levels. You adjust these directly on the hearing aid, so a smartphone is not needed to change those settings.
- Mode 1 emphasizes lower frequencies.
- Mode 2 emphasizes higher frequencies.
- After restarting, the device returns to Mode 1. Select Mode 2 again if that is your preferred setting.
- In a Pair package, each hearing aid has its own controls. Adjust the two units individually.
The frequency emphasis and volume are separate choices. Use the supplied manual for the exact button operation. Our VHP-1303 controls and care guide explains the routine in more detail.
Check handling, not just the feature list
A physical control is useful when you can locate it and use it comfortably. Before ordering, review the product pictures and instructions, including where the controls sit when the hearing aid is behind the ear.
If you are helping a parent or partner, go through these practical questions together:
- Can they distinguish the controls and remember the adjustment sequence?
- Can they put the device on and remove it comfortably?
- Will they remember to check the listening mode after switching it on?
- Is there a convenient place to charge it and keep the accessories?
Choose a routine the wearer can manage. A family member can help read the instructions and organize accessories, while the wearer remains involved in deciding whether the fit and sound feel comfortable.
USB charging is a separate part of the routine
The VHP-1303 package includes a USB charging cable. Follow the supplied manual for the charging procedure and indicators. A USB cable describes how the device receives power; it does not imply that a phone app or a portable charging case is included.

Check streaming and hearing needs separately
Adjusting hearing-aid settings and streaming calls or music are different tasks. If streaming is essential, look for an explicit statement of that function and any compatible-phone requirements in the exact model's specifications. Physical controls alone do not establish streaming capability.
Ease of operation also does not determine hearing suitability. A hearing professional can help assess your needs. Seek medical advice promptly for sudden hearing changes, ear pain or discharge, severe dizziness, or substantially different hearing between ears. Read the NIDCD guidance on when to seek care.
Compare the available packages
Blue, Beige and Gold VHP-1303 options share the same listed controls. Single means one hearing aid; Pair means two. Read the Single, Pair and color guide, or compare all six options together.
If budget is your next question, our rechargeable hearing aids under $100 guide covers package counts, charging, support and the total purchase cost.
